CBS announced the pickups for the next season and The Mentalist is one of the shows that will be officially coming back. We've been told several times by writers and producers that the show would certainly have a 6th season, but due to the low ratings, thanks to CBS that moved The Mentalist for the Sunday nights "death slot", fans were very apprehensive. We needed an official confirmation and here it is! Congratulations to the cast and crew! Season 6, here we go!
ADAM: If J.J. Laroche's return visit in this week's episode was not enough for you, then I've got good news! He will be back in this season's penultimate episode. And while that fact instantly made me think Laroche is connected to the escalating Red John case, executive producer Tom Szentgyorgi was quick to dispel that notion. So, why is the big guy back? "The mystery of what Laroche has in the Tupperware container in his safe will finally be answered," he says.

SCOTT ANTHONY LEET will play the role of Roddy Turner. He is described as follows.
Early-mid 30s, Anglo-Irish with an Irish accent, physically imposing, from the carnival circuit, this tough young man can erupt into violence at any given moment. Even though he's a prime murder suspect, he seems genuinely distraught at the death.
Episode 5.22 of The Mentalist will be called "Red John's Rules" (but you already knew that, yes). It will feature a character called Sean Barlow who is an Irish psychic from Jane's past. He could become a recurring character.
What's next for Jane on The Mentalist now that Red John killed Lorelei? — Bryan
ADAM: Lorelei may be gone, but the intel she's already shared with Jane — that Red John is someone Jane has shaken hands with before — will remain crucial to the remainder of this season. "This season has been about Jane digging into the notion that it's not that Red John could be anyone; it's that Red John is one of a very specific set of people that Jane is uniquely qualified to investigate," Tom Szentgyorgyi tells us. "The finale is going to pay that off in a way that will completely change the hunt for Red John. We are going to know some very specific things about who he might be."

Is there anything you can dish on The Mentalist? –Katrina
Well, that sure sounds like a “red” alert! In the new run of episodes kicking off this Sunday, Lorelai comes back into Jane’s life (with bloody results); things start to heat up again between Van Pelt and Rigsby (in a way neither could have predicted); JJ LaRoche, the head of the CBI’s Professional Standards Unit, returns and the mystery of what’s inside his Tupperware container is (finally!!) answered; and Jane’s quest to narrow down the list of Red John suspects comes to a thrilling conclusion in the season finale, “Red John’s Rules.”
I haven’t seen anything on The Mentalist in a long time! Scoop is appreciated! — Kimmy
Sunday’s episode marks the return of Lorelei, who comes back very determined to find out if Red John had a role in her sister’s death. And while she does get closure on the matter in the episode, it comes at a very high cost.
Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman & Emmanuelle Chriqui will be live chatting during the east coast airing of episode 5x16 "There Will Be Blood". More info here.
